Advantages of coal-fired power generation:
- It has high energy density and can convert a large amount of electricity .
- Coal is easy to mine, transport and store.
- Large reserves and low cost.
Disadvantages of coal-fired power generation:
- Coal combustion is a non- renewable energy source .
- Polluting gases such as sulfur dioxide are produced, which aggravate the formation of acid rain and global warming.
- Coal-burning wastewater contains a lot of suspended solids and heavy metals, and must be desulfurized.
