Japanese stocks ended the trading session on Thursday with gains, buoyed by positive performance in sectors including Precision Instruments, Transportation Equipment, and Electrical/Machinery.
Closing in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 index edged up by 0.04%.
Among the top performers on the Nikkei 225 were Eisai Co., Ltd. (TYO:4523), which climbed 2.79% or 170.00 points to reach 6,259.00 by the close. Additionally, Nidec Corp (TYO:6594) rose by 1.35% or 92.00 points to finish at 6,894.00, while Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:6770) saw an increase of 1.35% or 18.00 points, closing at 1,352.00.
On the downside, Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9531) experienced a decline of 9.57% or 387.00 points, closing at 3,654.00. Canon Inc (TYO:7751) dropped 8.42% or 374.00 points to end at 4,081.00, and Hino Motors, Ltd. (TYO:7205) fell by 5.96% or 29.30 points to 462.70.
Overall, decliners outnumbered advancers on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, with 2755 stocks falling, 874 advancing, and 239 remaining unchanged.
Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:6770) saw its shares reaching 52-week highs, gaining 1.35% or 18.00 to close at 1,352.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, indicating the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, decreased by 3.43% to 20.01.
In commodities trading, June delivery of crude oil rose by 0.17% or 0.14 to $82.95 a barrel. Brent oil for June delivery also increased by 0.20% or 0.18 to $88.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, the June Gold Futures contract fell by 0.30% or 7.05 to trade at $2,331.35 per troy ounce.
USD/JPY saw an increase of 0.21% to 155.66, while EUR/JPY rose by 0.43% to 166.91.
The US Dollar Index Futures decreased by 0.18% to 105.51.
