1. different volatility
Gasoline is volatile; Diesel is less volatile.
2. Different application areas
Gasoline is used in cars, motorcycles, speedboats, helicopters and so on; Diesel is used in tractors, large automobiles, diesel locomotives, civil engineering, excavators, loaders and fishing boats.
3. different preparation process
Gasoline is made by fractionation of crude oil and cracking of heavy fractions; Diesel oil is blended from diesel oil distillates produced by crude oil distillation, catalytic cracking, thermal cracking, hydrocracking and petroleum coking.
4. Different burning methods
Gasoline engines are ignited by spark plugs; Diesel engines are pressure fired.
5.Different emission characteristics
Gasoline burns intensely at high temperatures and its main emissions are carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides; Diesel emissions are mainly particulate matter and nitrogen oxides.
