On March 27, ANZ chief executive Shayne Elliott said that while turmoil in the financial sector was relatively widespread, it would be premature to suggest that recent bank failures in the US and Europe represented the start of another global financial crisis.
“A lot of the factors have been seen in previous turbulences or crises, including the global financial crisis,” Elliott said. “But really, when you actually pull out the microscope and see what’s happening and why it’s not the same as the global financial crisis.” Really different.”
“Regulators have worked overwhelmingly to resolve the issue and calm the market. ANZ is comfortable with its capital, liquidity and risk settings, he added.”
