Economists Expect Fed to Rein in Inflation

On April 17, a Wall Street Journal survey showed that economists became more pessimistic about the Fed’s control of inflation.

Most expect headline U.S. CPI to fall to 3.5 percent this year, compared with 3.1 percent in a January poll.

Three-fifths of economists expect the Fed to raise rates one last quarter point in May and not cut rates this year.
