On August 25th, according to the latest report released by blockchain analysis company Elliptic, the total value of stolen NFTs between July 2021 and July 2022 exceeded $100 million, with an average of $300,000 per scam. The report says 23% of all NFTs stolen in 2022 will come from social media platforms, such as sending phishing messages to members via Discord. The blue-chip NFTs most concerned by fraudsters include: Bored Apes, MutantApes, Azuki, Otherside, and Clone X. These five digital collections together account for more than two-thirds of the total value of stolen NFTs, of which the value of Bored Apes’ stolen NFTs is 43.6 million US dollars, accounting for the largest proportion. Of the single stolen NFTs, the most profitable was CryptoPunk #4324, which netted fraudsters $490,000.
