Ukraine PM criticises slow progress on IMF aid

On September 11, senior Ukrainian cabinet officials criticized the International Monetary Fund for slow progress in advancing a new aid program for Ukraine.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmikhal praised the IMF for its massive support for Ukraine in the past, but said the IMF was too slow to reach a new deal as Ukraine countered Russian military action and the conflict entered its seventh month.

Kyiv formally applied to the IMF in August for a new loan program and hopes to receive an initial grant as early as November.
