Japanese carmakers raise car prices due to soaring raw material prices

On September 11, Japanese domestic automakers raised prices one after another due to soaring raw material prices, including some models from brands such as Nissan and Subaru. Toll hikes for “shared cars” are also expanding due to rising gasoline prices, among other things.

Nissan will release small cars “NOTE” and “NOTE AURA” that use antibacterial seats this fall. The price is 4,400-44,000 yen (about 211-2110 yuan) higher than the current models. The price of the pure electric car “Leaf” will also increase. Subaru’s SUV “Forester” has been partially improved, and the price has also increased by 55,000 yen. Mitsubishi Motors has raised prices for the “Delica D:5” SUV and the “MIRAGE” compact car. Mazda also announced an increase in the prices of the SUV “CX-30” and the small car “Mazda3”.

On the other hand, the car-sharing service “e-share mobi” operated by Nissan has adjusted the price of some models from August, with an increase of 50-100 yen per 15 minutes. Orix Motor Co., which operates ORIX car-sharing vehicles, has also partially raised prices since June due to fuel price hikes and other factors.
