Japan stocks saw positive gains at the close of trade on Friday, with the Nikkei 225 rising by 0.93%. The Chemical, Fishery, and Retail sectors led the upward movement in shares.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 increased by 0.93%.
Among the top performers on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (TYO:9104), rising by 7.07% or 277.00 points to 4,196.00 at the close. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107) also recorded gains, adding 6.93% or 333.00 points to end at 5,138.00, while Yaskawa Electric Corp. (TYO:6506) rose by 6.84% or 364.00 points, closing at 5,689.00 in late trade.
On the other hand, Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506) was among the worst performers, falling by 9.03% or 42.00 points to trade at 423.00 at the close. Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. (TYO:2002) declined by 4.92% or 99.50 points to end at 1,922.00, and Maruha Nichiro Corp (TYO:1333) was down 4.31% or 125.00 points, closing at 2,774.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, with 2204 gaining, 1445 declining, and 237 remaining unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, decreased by 4.48% to 17.28.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.06% or 0.04, reaching $71.62 a barrel. Brent oil for delivery in February rose by 0.09% or 0.07, hitting $76.68 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract increased by 0.22% or 4.55, trading at $2,049.45 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY rose by 0.08% to 141.99, while EUR/JPY fell by 0.03% to 155.94.
The US Dollar Index Futures increased by 0.06% at 101.64.
