Japanese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the Nikkei 225 rising by 0.03%. The gains were led by the Gas & Water, Paper & Pulp, and Railway & Bus sectors.
At the close in Tokyo, the best performers on the Nikkei 225 included Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO: 4911), rising by 4.32%, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO: 9107), gaining 4.22%, and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TYO: 7003), up by 3.91%.
Conversely, the worst performers included Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corp (TYO: 4188), falling by 4.31%, CyberAgent Inc (TYO: 4751), declining by 2.62%, and Sumitomo Realty & Development Co. (TYO: 8830), down by 1.56%.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, with 2242 gaining, 1389 declining, and 265 remaining unchanged.
Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO: 9107) reached an all-time high during the session, rising by 4.22% to 6,616.00.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery increased by 0.88% to $74.54 a barrel. Brent oil for delivery in February rose by 0.86% to $80.07 a barrel, and the February Gold Futures contract rose by 0.45% to $2,060.45 per troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up by 0.13% to 142.28, while EUR/JPY fell by 0.01% to 156.45. The US Dollar Index Futures increased by 0.01% to 101.49.
