Japanese stocks closed slightly higher on Tuesday, with the Nikkei 225 index gaining 0.07%. The positive performance was led by sectors such as Shipbuilding, Precision Instruments, and Rubber.
At the close in Tokyo, LY Corp (TYO:4689) emerged as one of the best performers, rising by 2.47% or 11.70 points to reach 484.90. Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:7735) also made notable gains, adding 2.22% or 255.00 points to close at 11,750.00. Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (TYO:5233) saw an increase of 2.04%, gaining 56.50 points to reach 2,827.50 in late trade.
On the other hand, Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9007) was among the worst performers, falling by 4.22% or 93.50 points to trade at 2,122.50 at the close. Takashimaya Co., Ltd. (TYO:8233) declined by 3.16%, losing 63.00 points to end at 1,930.50. Mazda Motor Corp (TYO:7261) was down 2.61%, shedding 40.50 points to close at 1,512.00.
The Nikkei 225 index closed with more rising stocks (1858) than declining ones (1780), and 261 stocks remained unchanged.
LY Corp (TYO:4689) reached a 52-week high, rising by 2.47% to 484.90.
In the commodities market, crude oil for February delivery rose by 0.26% to $73.75 a barrel. Brent oil for delivery in March also increased by 0.27% to $79.01 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose by 0.30% to $2,075.40 per troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.07% at 142.24, and EUR/JPY rose by 0.07% to 156.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures were down 0.09% at 101.25.
