Japan Stocks Close Lower: Nikkei 225 Down 0.45%

Tokyo, Japan – In Friday’s trading session, Japanese stocks concluded lower as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Rubber, and Mining sectors weighed down on shares.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.45%.

Among the top performers on the Nikkei 225 were Rakuten Inc (TYO:4755), rising 7.53% to 628.00, CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751), adding 3.33% to 885.10, and DIC Corp (TYO:4631), up 2.88% to 2,771.50 in late trade.

Conversely, the worst performers of the session included Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (TYO:5019), falling 2.33% to 767.50, Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541), declining 2.02% to 1,214.00, and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TYO:7003), down 1.81% to 706.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, with 2364 advancing, 1293 declining, and 226 remaining unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, measuring the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, rose by 1.18% to 17.10.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery rose by 0.35% to $72.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March increased by 0.49% to $77.53 a barrel, and the February Gold Futures contract fell by 0.09% to $2,081.65 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.11% to 141.24, while EUR/JPY fell by 0.05% to 156.36. The US Dollar Index Futures fell by 0.08% to 100.83.
