On Monday, Japan’s stock market experienced gains, with the Nikkei 225 rising by 0.45% at the close and reaching a new all-time high. The positive momentum was attributed to increases in the Precision Instruments, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, and Banking sectors.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 reached the new high, signaling optimism in the market. Renesas Electronics Corp (TYO:6723) emerged as one of the session’s best performers, rising by 4.87% to 2,715.00 points. Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099) also recorded a notable gain of 4.56%, closing at 2,210.50 points, while SUMCO Corp. (TYO:3436) climbed 3.98% to 2,496.00 points.
Conversely, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107) saw a decline of 6.66%, closing at 7,232.00 points, making it one of the session’s worst performers. DeNA Co Ltd (TYO:2432) and Aozora Bank, Ltd. (TYO:8304) also experienced declines of 6.15% and 5.84%, respectively.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange witnessed more falling stocks than advancing ones, with 2380 stocks falling, 1306 advancing, and 207 remaining unchanged.
Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099) reached 5-year highs during the session, while SUMCO Corp. (TYO:3436) achieved 52-week highs.
In the commodities market, crude oil for April delivery dipped by 0.11% to $79.88 a barrel, while Brent oil for May delivery rose by 0.04% to $83.58 a barrel. The April Gold Futures contract fell by 0.27% to $2,090.10 a troy ounce.
The USD/JPY pair was up by 0.17% at 150.37, and the EUR/JPY pair rose by 0.28% to 163.06.
The US Dollar Index Futures experienced a slight increase of 0.02%, reaching 103.82.
