On Tuesday, Japan stocks saw gains at the close of trading, with the Mining, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, and Warehousing sectors leading the charge.
The Nikkei 225 index rose by 0.28% at the close in Tokyo.
Among the top performers on the Nikkei 225 were Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9532), climbing 4.96% to 3,514.00, followed by NTT Data Corp. (TYO:9613), which added 3.26% to 2,443.50, and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9531), up 2.79% to 4,046.00.
Conversely, Toho Co., Ltd. (TYO:9602) saw a decline of 2.62%, closing at 5,341.00, while Kansai Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9503) dropped 2.48% to 2,365.00, and Denso Corp. (TYO:6902) fell by 2.37% to 2,781.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2255 to 1352, with 263 ending unchanged.
Notably, shares in Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9532) and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9531) hit 5-year highs during the session.
The Nikkei Volatility, reflecting the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, reached a new 52-week high, rising by 13.68% to 24.43.
In commodities trading, crude oil for June delivery increased by 0.20% to $82.06 a barrel, while Brent oil for June delivery rose by 0.22% to $87.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, June Gold Futures fell by 1.29% to $2,316.05 a troy ounce.
The USD/JPY pair was down 0.05% to 154.76, while the EUR/JPY pair fell by 0.18% to 164.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures edged up by 0.14% to 106.07.
