Australia stocks concluded the trading session on a positive note on Friday, with gains in the Gold, Consumer Staples, and Energy sectors driving the upward trajectory of shares.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 index rose by 0.96%.
Among the top performers on the S&P/ASX 200 were Nuix Ltd (ASX), which surged by 7.27% or 0.21 points to close at 3.10. Bega Cheese Ltd (ASX) also saw notable gains, rising by 5.48% or 0.23 points to conclude at 4.43, while Ramelius Resources Ltd (ASX) recorded a 5.11% increase, adding 0.10 points to reach 1.96 by the end of the trading session.
Conversely, the session saw Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX) as one of the worst performers, declining by 5.06% or 0.05 points to settle at 0.85. Megaport Ltd (ASX) slipped by 3.92% or 0.55 points, ending the session at 13.49, while EML Payments Ltd (ASX) experienced a 2.59% decrease, shedding 0.03 points to reach 0.94.
The Sydney Stock Exchange witnessed a dominance of rising stocks over declining ones, with 675 stocks closing higher, 490 lower, and 472 remaining unchanged.
Shares in Nuix Ltd (ASX) rose to 52-week highs, up by 7.27% or 0.21 to 3.10.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, edged down by 0.59% to 11.54.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery saw a slight decrease of 0.10% or 2.25, settling at $2,364.25 a troy ounce. Crude oil for delivery in July fell by 0.15% or 0.12, reaching $77.79 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract dipped marginally by 0.02% or 0.02, trading at $81.86 a barrel.
The AUD/USD pair remained unchanged at 0.66, while the AUD/JPY pair rose by 0.13% to 104.17.
The US Dollar Index Futures indicated a gain of 0.14% at 104.81.
