Indonesian Stocks Close Slightly Lower, IDX Composite Index Falls 0.04%

Indonesian stocks closed slightly lower on Wednesday, with the IDX Composite Index slipping by 0.04% to reach a new six-month low by the end of trading in Jakarta. The decline was primarily driven by losses in the Financials, Agriculture, and Basic Industry sectors.

Leading the gainers on the IDX Composite Index was Sejahteraraya Anugrahjaya Tbk (JK), which surged by an impressive 1,733.33%, or 2,080.00 points, closing at 2,200.00. Metropolitan Kentjana Tbk (JK) followed, rising sharply by 1,186.90%, or 24,925.00 points, to finish at 27,025.00. Indonesian Paradise Property (JK) also posted significant gains, climbing 933.33%, or 980.00 points, to 1,085.00 at the close.

Conversely, the session’s worst performers included Ever Shine Textile Industry (JK), plummeting by 99.52%, or 5,374.00 points, ending at 26.00. Himalaya Energi Perkasa Tbk PT (JK) and Visi Media Asia Tbk (JK) also experienced substantial declines of 98.57% and 98.33%, respectively.

Market sentiment was predominantly negative, with declining stocks outnumbering advancers by a significant margin: 476 to 197, while 151 stocks remained unchanged.

During the session, Sejahteraraya Anugrahjaya Tbk (JK) hit all-time highs, underscoring its substantial gain, whereas Visi Media Asia Tbk (JK) reached all-time lows amid its steep decline.

In commodities trading, crude oil prices saw slight declines, with August delivery for WTI crude down 0.40% to $80.39 per barrel. Brent crude for August delivery also slipped by 0.39% to $85.00 per barrel. Meanwhile, August Gold Futures edged up by 0.06% to $2,348.40 per troy ounce.

Currency markets showed modest movements, with the USD/IDR pair decreasing by 0.15% to 16,352.00, while the AUD/IDR pair rose slightly by 0.10% to 10,911.40.

The US Dollar Index Futures remained unchanged at 104.88, reflecting stability in the broader currency markets amid the day’s trading activities.

Overall, Indonesian markets faced mixed performances across sectors, influenced by both domestic and global economic factors shaping investor sentiment.
