An oil depot in Russia’s Belgorod Oblast was targeted by a drone strike overnight on August 3, as reported by Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
The attack occurred in the Gubkinsky district of Belgorod Oblast, causing an explosion and a subsequent fire at the facility. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, and Gladkov reported that there were no casualties.
The Kyiv Independent has not been able to independently verify Gladkov’s statement, and there has been no official comment from Ukraine’s military regarding the incident.
In addition to the Belgorod attack, Russian officials have reported drone strikes in Rostov and Oryol oblasts on August 3.
Belgorod Oblast shares borders with Ukraine’s Sumy, Kharkiv, and Luhansk oblasts. In recent months, Ukrainian forces have increasingly targeted military and infrastructure sites in Russian regions adjacent to Ukraine. Notably, a July 29 attack on Belgorod Oblast resulted in a fire at an energy substation.
