Taiwanese stocks ended lower on Friday, with losses in the Electricity and Glass sectors weighing on the market.
At the close, the Taiwan Weighted index fell 0.16%, marking a new one-month low.
Among the best performers of the session, Arima Communications Corp (TW:8101) saw a significant gain of 9.84%, or 1.80 points, closing at 20.10. Bright Led Electronics Corp (TW:3031) rose 7.86%, adding 1.65 points to end at 22.65, while Edison Opto Corp (TW:3591) advanced by 7.07%, gaining 1.70 points to close at 25.75.
On the downside, the worst performers included Kinpo Electronics Inc (TW:2312), which fell 10.00%, losing 3.35 points to finish at 30.15. Daxin Materials Corp (TW:5234) dropped 9.91%, or 22.50 points, to end at 204.50, and Logah Technology Corp (TW:3593) declined 9.87%, losing 0.60 points to close at 5.48.
Overall, decliners outnumbered gainers on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, although the ratio was not specified.
Arima Communications Corp reached a three-year high, while Logah Technology Corp hit a three-year low during the session.
In commodity markets, crude oil for January delivery rose 0.35%, or 0.24, to $69.12 per barrel. Brent oil for February delivery saw a slight gain of 0.01%, or 0.01, reaching $72.79 per barrel. Meanwhile, February Gold Futures rose 0.94%, or 25.11, to $2,686.61 per ounce.
In the foreign exchange market, the USD/TWD pair was down 0.08% to 32.54, while the TWD/CNY rate was unchanged at 0.22.
