Indonesia Stocks Close Lower Amid Sector Weakness; IDX Composite Falls 0.38%

Indonesia’s equity markets ended Thursday in negative territory, with the IDX Composite Index declining by 0.38%. Losses in key sectors such as Financials, Agriculture, and Basic Industry weighed on the broader market.

Top Gainers of the Day

Among the session’s standout performers was Sunson Textile Manufacturer (JK:SSTM), which surged by 34.81%, gaining 47 points to close at 182.00. Megapolitan Developments Tbk (JK:EMDE) followed closely, with a 34.48% rise or 40 points, ending the day at 156.00. Additionally, Indo Straits Tbk (JK:PTIS) advanced by 25.00%, adding 54 points to finish at 270.00.

Session’s Decliners

On the downside, Quantum Clovera Investama Tbk PT (JK:KREN) led the losses, plummeting 16.67% to close at 5.00. Fuji Finance Indonesia Tbk PT (JK:FUJI) also saw a sharp decline, falling 14.29% or 54 points to end at 324.00, while Modern Internasional Tbk (JK:MDRN) dropped by 14.29%, closing 1 point lower at 6.00.

The overall market breadth reflected bearish sentiment, with 309 stocks declining compared to 290 that advanced, while 230 remained unchanged on the Jakarta Stock Exchange.

Commodities Update

In the commodities market, crude oil prices edged higher. January crude oil futures rose by 0.34% or $0.23, settling at $68.77 per barrel. Similarly, Brent oil futures for February delivery increased by 0.30% or $0.22 to $72.53 per barrel. On the other hand, gold saw a slight dip, with the February Gold Futures contract falling 0.24% or $6.51 to trade at $2,669.69 per troy ounce.

Currency Market Movements

In forex trading, the Indonesian rupiah strengthened against the US dollar, with USD/IDR down by 0.26% to 15,856.30. Meanwhile, AUD/IDR experienced a modest rise of 0.06%, reaching 10,227.50. The US Dollar Index Futures, which measures the greenback’s strength against a basket of currencies, slipped 0.20% to 106.08.

As global economic factors and commodity price fluctuations continue to influence market movements, investors remain vigilant in navigating the current landscape.
