Taiwan’s stock market closed higher on Wednesday, buoyed by gains in the Electronic Products Distribution, Machinery, and Rubber sectors. The Taiwan Weighted Index rose by 0.07% at the close of trading.
Among the top performers of the session, Episil-Precision Inc (TW:3016) saw a notable rise of 10.00%, gaining 4.50 points to close at 49.50. Taiwan Chelic Corp Ltd (TW:4555) followed closely with a 9.98% increase, adding 4.15 points to reach 45.75. Altek Corp (TW:3059) also had a strong session, rising by 9.97%, up 3.60 points to end at 39.70.
On the flip side, the worst performers included ALi Corp (TW:3041), which fell 6.29%, dropping 2.35 points to close at 35.00. Powertech Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3296) saw a decline of 5.75%, losing 1.85 points to end at 30.30. Tai Twun Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3432) was down 5.71%, shedding 1.05 points to finish at 17.35.
The Taiwan Stock Exchange saw a balance in the number of advancing and declining stocks, with the overall count showing no clear lead.
In commodities, crude oil for February delivery slipped by 0.09%, settling at $70.10 per barrel. However, Brent oil for March delivery rose by 1.24%, reaching $73.22 per barrel. The February Gold Futures contract remained unchanged at $2,633.50 per ounce.
In currency markets, the USD/TWD exchange rate rose slightly by 0.03%, to 32.70, while the TWD/CNY remained stable at 0.22. The US Dollar Index Futures was up by 0.18%, standing at 108.00.
